In the 1950s:
We had a 19” Black & White TV. I watched this and laughed.
In the 1960s:
I read comics, magazines, paperbacks, hardbacks, record album liner notes, advertisements and the credits on every movie.
In the 1970s:
I learned guitar watching others play, dreamed about sex 500 times a day, and got married.
In the 1980s:
I got divorced, drove to California, acted on TV and learned computers.
In the 1990s:
I made up noises and music for the movies, and got married again.
In the 2000s:
I went back to school and learned medical imaging.
In 2010: We moved to Washington, I got a job helping people die, and another one helping them live. I’ve been writing about it ever since. I don’t know what will happen next. That’s why it’s fun to continue living.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ME!
Happy Birthday Mikey! It’s awesome & impressive to see what you’ve done so far. Without doubt I’m sure you got more to impress & show. Enjoy!
Thanks very much! If all of you enjoy it, I will too.
Happy Birthday, pal!
Aw, shucks. See you Saturday! (We’re partying then.)
Happy Birthday to you — awesome life — so far!
It’s been very entertaining. I truly believe everyone has an awesome life story to tell, if only someone will listen carefully enough. Thanks for reading, and for the felicitation.
Happy birthday, Mikey. You’ve lived a hell of a life and I’m sure there’s more to come. I loved the YouTube clip of the film sound effects, you clever thing. I was hoping it would feature the Wilhelm Scream and it didn’t disappoint. It’s thanks to one of your posts that I found out about the Wilhelm Scream and it’s something I now look out for in movies.
May you have many more happy birthdays and continue to write on this blog. I may not respond to it as often as I’d like, but if it wasn’t here anymore, I’d miss it.
We share much the same sense of humour, Pie. Everyone knows some incredible trivia related to their work. Mine was the legend of the Wilhelm scream 😀 I would miss reading your work too, but life moves on. We might both get paid to write, and be restricted from this free form of fun.
Welcome to the decade, hope you have the most fulfilling year yet in a very rich life.
Thank you, dear. I kind of expect my very best days will be after I retire in two years, assuming my health is sustained. There are so many things I want to try once my schedule is my own to set.
Awww….now you have LIVED an awesome life and continue to do so! You inspire with your words and that is testament enough to your amazing spirit.
Happiest Birthday Ever Mikey.
By the way, your birthday is one day before my daughters Birthday 🙂 So that makes today happy day in our household too!
Continue to shine!
Lots of love,
Z~
Hurray! Nothing makes me more fulfilled than to feel connected with the green crops in life’s field. Tell your darling sprout her “Uncle on computer” is happy she is growing so well. Thank you for coming to visit, Zee.
Happy, happy birthday, my dearest Michael. Wishing you many more years of love, joy, peace and happiness. If I could wave a magic wand, it’d be my wish to meet you and Mary in person. Through your writing alone, you have made a huge impact on my life, without you even being aware of it. You are often in my thoughts. Sending you lots of love and light from across the ocean.
Oh, I’m aware of the impact, because it is mutual. Visiting you is high on the list once my schedule is under my own direction, in 2016. Mary has been there before, and I can hear an old, old song calling to me from the veldt. It’s an adventure not to be missed. Thank you always for your encouragement.
Happy Birthday, Mikey!
I hope you have a wonderful day.
x
Thanks. I did! Today’s shaping up too.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you. ::: bows :::
Happy birthday!
Thanks very much! Cake’s over there on the table. Help yourself.
Wow. I thought I was the only one who turned 60 this year past. Glad to know I’m not alone. Happy Birthday! Have you begun to think about what the universe expands into?
Gosh, no! I haven’t mused about the expanding universe in at least 30 years. I’m concentrating on keeping my eyes and ears open to see what happens. Que sera, sera…
Happy Birthday to you too.
I hadn’t either. Until I turned 60 and watched True Detective. When I think about it, I get vertigo.
Thanks for the reminder. I have 6 episodes on the DVR, and haven’t watched them yet!
Fun way to chronicle the decades. Makes me wonder what I would say or show to represent each of mine. Happy Birthday to you and may the coming decades be the best yet! 🙂
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it. The intention was to do it like an interactive children’s book. I wrote down the first things that came to mind as single words, strung them into simple sentences, and looked around for videos and photos to illustrate.
Brilliant ! Life is a true adventure Mike – and it keeping ourselves on our toes is the most important thing we can do for our selves. Keep writing!
Katie
Thanks, Katie! This gravatar shows your softer side. The other one comes across as direct and intelligent. I think you should consider modeling, or acting in commercials. You have a good face for endorsing products. Right in the “Proctor & Gamble” zone.
(Katie’s entrepreneurial. She’s been running businesses since she was a teen.)
Hey thanks Mike! I tried modeling but did not like it!! Looking forward to reading more 🙂
Wow, happy (belated) birthday Mikey! You inspire me so much; you’ve certainly lived a busy life and I love that you’re looking forward to what the next decades will bring too. I could learn so much from your positive attitude 🙂
Gosh, thanks! It’s easy to be positive when everything in your life works 😀 I’ve spent plenty of time in Funkytown though. That’s when it matters, the practice, knowing all things pass, so that when I hurt I also go into wait mode.
Horror movies and gory TV shows help too. I watch “The Walking Dead” and laugh. I love hearing the foley “squishes” and impacts of all the zombie killing. Rubber weapons, veggie oil fake blood, liquid latex, meat bits and spirit gum. It’s such sloppy fun.
Happy birthday! 🙂
Thanks, Glamazon 🙂
Happy Belated Birthday Mikey!
As you might know from a few specific posts on my blog I’ve been more than a little bogged down with trying to get on top of my health issues recently, life goes on but it feels like it’s a bit in slow motion rather than in real time. I try and remain positive and succeed most days.
I loved the decade by decade illustration of your life LOL cool!
Here’s to many more decades of love, wit and merriment! … and to 2016 when hopefully you can visit our neck of the woods 🙂
Meantime I have a lot of posts to catch up on… and will greatly enjoy doing so.
Hope that you and Mary had a fabulous time celebrating and enjoying your Birthday… friends and family, people you love around you, the very best gift of all 🙂 HUGS… kiwi.
It’s all good, Kiwi. Finnegan, the new service dog trainee, is a mischievious teenager. I finished the classes to get my licenses renewed so now I’ll have more time to write, and yes you are still on the upcoming “world tour” list. I truly hope your health remains stable and improves. Thanks for visiting!
I’m a little late to the party – but Happy Birthday, Mikey!
One of the nice things about virtuality is that the party is never over. Thank you for coming!
Happy Birthday!!! It seems you have had a great run. Wishing you many more wonderful years ahead.
Thanks! There’s still some virtual cake, over on the table. Help yourself.
Lol, I’ve never had virtual cake before. Can’t wait!
