Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a bad cold, so I have to stay in alone while my pals are feasting together, and I’m kind of grumpy about it.  I had the good fortune to help restore a truly remarkable film, Giant (1956), a decade ago.  It’s full of honest, meaningful glimpses into the contradictions of American life.  This is a good one for today:

  1. Sorry to hear you’re under the weather. Thanks for the video clip. I was laughing out loud! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  2. I’ll survive (*sniff*). Thanks, KW.

  3. Michael – what a bummer you had to stay home today!

  4. I just have one word for you–ILEX 17. (Was that two words?) It is a mixture of Chinese herbs, and if taken at the very onset of symptoms, it will nip that cold in the bud. I, too, felt the beginning of a cold yesterday and started right away. By bedtime, I was still very sniffly, but by this morning it was fading and I expect it to be completely gone by tomorrow. This is the third time I have headed off a cold with it, and now I’m a true believer.

And no side effects like I get with other cold medication.

Anyway, it won’t help you much now, but if you want to try it, get in a supply so you are ready right away! if you need help finding some, let me know.

(For a cold that already has you in its clutches, I suggest hot water with honey, lemon juice and lots of fresh garlic. You wife won’t want to kiss you, but it is a magic tonic.)

    Hope you feel better soon!

    • I followed my usual rx: fluids, rest and antihistamines. I’m so weird I actually like the goldfish bowl feeling I get on antihistamines, if I’m sick. I got over 80% of the virus in about 30 hours. That drink sounds yummy for a sore throat. I get about one cold a year, so I’ll put that recipe in my files.

  5. Yeah. Timing is everything, huh? I’m much better today, because I stayed in and rested. Mary brought me leftovers. Thanks for visiting, Susie.

  6. I hope you’re feeling better now, Mikey!
