She’s 10 weeks old. Not bad on a leash. Whines a little, but it comes across like she’s asking, “What do I doooo?” Extraordinarily calm demeanor. I got home from the clinic in time to see that she’s learned a lot, but is still a baby.
She ate so enthusiastically and rapidly that she got food on the inside of her ears. She also gave herself the hiccups, from gulping air. After eating, we took her out to the carport. She whined, walked around, walked around, squatted, and hallelujah – got the triple crown! All three “P”s. She peed. She pooped. She was praised.
Lila accepted being bathed in the sink quite well. Then she went to sleep in her kennel crate. We are reinforcing her peaceful behaviors, but frankly, she came to us that way already. What a good girl!

She is so
You’ve said it all, Deb. I deleted your longer reaction because less IS more. She’s a darling.
Precious!
Amen
Like I said last night, lovely. Lila. I like.
Me2.
What a great program to be part of – but I expect it will be hard to give her back in a years time!
Guess I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I think it gets easier with practice, like most hard things. I didn’t do service-oriented work full-time until I was 50. Now, all my ideas about working have changed. Just doing it, care giving, medical assisting, diagnostics – it’s all more emotionally rewarding to me than trading creative product for money used to be. They do give you another puppy the same day you give yours up, if you want. Perhaps that helps.
Aaawww! Precious. I want one!
That maternal instinct is truly amazing. I love her, but at the moment I only want more sleep, and for her to get tired faster.
i wouldnt want her to leave but its all for the good of others id want to keep them all so id be no good lol shes lovely xxjen
Isn’t she? If she washes out in training, or upon her retirement as a guide, we get first choice to keep her as a pet. Despite that, I want her to be the best trainee ever.
I just love it when puppies get the hiccups.
I thought she was going to barf at first, but no, just “hup…hup…hup”.
Very cute.
The three “P”s – yippee!
Maybe if I had been praised I would be able to do it on command too. Well, I do hold it pretty well.
