I had a good day today! Got in an application at a sweet little hospital I would love to work at. They sent me a nice letter acknowledging it, and telling me when to expect to be contacted if I’m a finalist for the position. Even the form letters are friendly here.
Though I don’t have a camera with me, my phone takes pictures. I decided to take some while running around today. This is in part an inspiration I got from kiwidutch, who has the ability to see the beauty in everyday things. http://kiwidutch.wordpress.com/
I’m in a new place. I should try to see with new eyes.
They make serious coffee here. It can affect your driving.
I stopped by the store.
I found a wild beach outside of town to walk on.
Only humans would think of shooting at the ocean.
(OK, it looked fun.)
Then I took a different way home.

And how was YOUR day?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the photos!!!! The coffee place clearly turns your engine over and fires your battery up in the morning and gets you going ! Ooooh,I WANT THAT SHOP !!!! How beautiful and full of character is THAT ?! Shooting at the sea? err, why? (or is it better that I don’t ask?, they have guns after all…) Schmuck Road ! gosh I bet *that’s* a talking point when residents have to give their address on official forms LOL
Whaaaa, I wanna live where you live… it looks wonderful! (maybe not live next door to the gun people though, they’d make me nervous)
People here shoot at everything. It’s part of our rural culture. (hmmm)
As cannon-toting Americans go, they weren’t so dangerous. The guy had made a bazooka that fires rocks or shells or sponges using compressed air. It clips on a ladder for support against the recoil. He got the parts at the hardware store. Nice loud bang, but it only throws things about 10 meters.
So glad the views amused.
Bahahahaha. I want to live on Shmuck Road.
There are some nice properties there. Not sure if there’s a qualifier like “you must be one”. I just about fell out of the car laughing when I saw it.
My day on Saturday was excellent, thank you for asking. I spent time at my favorite haunt, searching for treasures, much like you obviously did!
Hmmm…my definition of a “schmuck” and this definition of “schmuck” come from waaaay different ends of the vocabulary.
We call that a potato gun up here…
I’d like to make a request if I may….school bus stops. I have an addiction to photos of school bus stops, you know those little 3×3 sheds you see at the end of rural driveways? If you happen along any quirky ones, I’d be greatly interested in seeing them. I love taking road trips just to find interesting stops, some people do the most fascinating things with them.
There’s an unusual idea! I wonder if they would let me ride along, like you can do with cops. I’ll have to investigate.
Schmuck is not the sort of thing to name a road after, which is why it’s funny. I suppose it must have been someone’s name. (Poor them.)
Loving your “picture book” stories of your day. Totally creative.
Theresa Jane
Thank you so much Theresa Jane. (Her blog’s a great read BTW.)
Anytime you see a car going through a building for advertising, you know you’re in a small town (or Vegas).
Ah, Schmuck Road. I’ve schlepped on that road on many a drunk night.
I read in the paper a few days ago that one of the Schmucks just died, and when they wrote “there were four Schmuck children” I cracked up all over again.
That’s unfortunate. I wonder if the journalist’s last name was Putz.
Laughing at obituaries is always a great pastime. This is very goth to admit, but I used to read the local obituaries as inspiration for poems.
